This project was born in 2018 under the name WhistleblowingPA, thanks to the will of Transparency International Italia and Whistleblowing Solutions Impresa Sociale to provide all Public Administrations in Italy with a free digital solution to communicate with whistleblowers, guaranteeing security and anonymity.
From 2023 the initiative changed its name and became WhistleblowingIT to embrace the different elements of this project that have grown over the years. Following the ever-increasing requests from organizations other than public administrations, Transparency International Italia and Whistleblowing Solutions have decided to meet the needs of public owned companies, private companies and all organizations that want to provide themselves with whistleblowing reporting systems, by implementing digital solutions, both standard and customized. Notwithstanding that, the project will always keep its social purpose at its core which allows it to serve all public administrations in Italy for free, a number that is constantly growing.
The project makes available IT platforms based on the GlobaLeaks software, the only free and open source digital whistleblowing solution. All platforms comply with laws and regulations on the protection of whistleblowers and their maintenance and updating are always guaranteed and do not require technical interventions by subjects internal or external to the organisations. Additionally, WhistleblowingPA is a qualified service of the Italian National Cybersecurity Agency.
